CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Ken (in his early 20’s) is a sharp and talented young artist. Kind, patient, and a bit naïve, he is eager to begin his work and learn from master artist, Mark Rothko. He remains calm under immense pressure and criticism from his mentor. He is passionate, articulate, and cultured and can hold his own in a debate. There is a yearning and fire to become a better artist; yet there is reluctance to accept his own tragic background.
PLAY SYNOPSIS
Written by the same writer of such popular films as The Aviator, Gladiator and most recently, Skyfall, this intelligent, electrifying and scintillating work is a remarkable depiction of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, Mark Rothko. In this compelling drama, Rothko faces the antagonizing fear of becoming superfluous even at the height of his greatest commercial success. This searing play speaks beyond the soul of the artist and more notably to all whose creative ambitions drive the desire to be understood.
Thom Hofrichter (Producing Director of FPT, Fort Wayne) will guest direct.
