Costume Shop rental policy change
The theatre department costume shop is changing its policies on non-academic rentals. In the past, the costume shop has made efforts to accommodate individual costume requests by students for special events such as Halloween, Junior/Senior Formals, Hoe-Down, Olympiad, etc. We are indefinitely suspending these rental requests. The shop cannot keep up with the demand, especially during large and extensive builds for theatre department productions. Also, some of the items are being damaged beyond repair, returned in an untimely manner or being returned in worse shape than when first checked out of the shop.
The shop’s main priority will continue to be supporting the needs of the theatre productions. Other services the shop will continue to provide is requests by DMA film students. However, please note that students MUST schedule well in advance. Last minute requests are not possible. We will also make every effort to continue to support academic needs (TH115 prop and costume requests, Acting classes costume requests, any faculty needs for class instruction, etc.). We also will continue to rent out our costumes to other local universities, community theatres and high schools.
Thank you for adhering to our new policies. We wish that we could accommodate all needs, but we simply do not have the time or resources.
