Sixteen Foresters Named NAIA Scholar-Athletes for Winter Sports

Sixteen student-athletes from Huntington University have been recognized as NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the winter season, as announced by the national office.

The honor recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom while competing in winter sports including basketball, bowling, competitive cheer, competitive dance, swimming & diving and wrestling.

To qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year.

Among winter sports nationally, women’s basketball led all programs with 926 scholar-athletes, followed by men’s basketball with 659. Men’s wrestling (265), competitive cheer (214) and women’s swimming & diving (204) rounded out the top five sports represented.

Huntington’s list of honorees includes representatives from men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s bowling, women’s bowling and competitive cheer.
