MEN’S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

The Huntington University men’s indoor track & field team continued its early-season momentum on Friday at the Indiana Tech Invite, highlighted by an NAIA B standard, multiple podium finishes, and strong depth across sprints, middle distance, and field events.

NATIONAL QUALIFYING PERFORMANCES 

Jan Busam – 600m (1st, 1:21.67, NAIA B) 

TOP PERFORMERS 

Sprints

Junior Sam Handerson led the Foresters in the 60 meters, advancing through prelims with a 6.81 before finishing third overall in the finals (6.84). Senior Nathan Farinha also reached the finals, placing seventh (6.97). 

Middle Distance

The 600 meters proved to be one of Huntington’s strongest events of the meet, with six Foresters finishing inside the top 10. Busam’s winning performance was followed closely by Jayden Williams (2nd, 1:21.99) and Noah Wellington (4th, 1:22.24). 

Field Events

Freshman Caleb Farr delivered a standout performance in the pole vault, winning the event with a clearance of 4.65m. Sophomore Kharrington Terry cleared 1.91m in the high jump, while Tyler Crosson recorded a 6.70m leap in the long jump. 

In the throws, Aaron Thomas led the way with an eighth-place finish in the shot put (11.99m) and a fourth-place finish in the weight throw (15.27m). 

TOP 10 PROGRAM PERFORMANCES 

The Indiana Tech Invite produced one of the strongest single-event showings in recent history, highlighted by a dominant performance in the men’s 600 meters as six Foresters etched their names into Huntington’s all-time top 10.

The Foresters will now prepare for a busy January slate as the indoor season continues with multiple meets after the holiday break, including the SVSU Classic and Warrior Invite on January 16.
