HU Shoutouts

Faculty Feature — Ryan Long

Faculty Feature: Ryan Long @ HU Arizona!

A big shoutout to Ryan for joining us in Arizona this May term! This was her first time teaching at Huntington University’s Peoria campus, and we’re so grateful she said yes to the opportunity. Here’s what she shared about her experience:

“I had never really thought about teaching a May-term class there until Jamie and Christian suggested it, but I am so glad you did — it was such a great experience! The Peoria campus is beautiful and state-of-the-art, the faculty and staff members were super nice and helpful, and the students in my class were excited, inquisitive, and hard-working. It was refreshing to get to work in a location outside of my usual routine; the copious sunshine was a welcome change from Indiana’s relatively gloomy May this year!”

But it wasn’t just the sunshine that made an impact:

“I had the privilege of working with a diverse group of students who all approach the college experience from a commuter perspective. It helped me understand some of the necessary differences between the Indiana and Arizona campuses, and staff members shared with me some of the unique ways HUAZ approaches student engagement and spiritual development. The experience gave me vital information to consider when proposing departmental or curricular changes and how those may affect HUAZ students and operations.”

We’re thrilled that Ryan got to experience more of the Forester Family, and we hope others will too!

Shameless plug: Thinking about a change of scenery and sunshine next May? We’d love to host more Indiana-based faculty for May term at HU Arizona! It’s a meaningful way to connect with students, gain new perspectives, and enjoy some Arizona warmth (literally and figuratively).

Reach out if you’d like to explore the opportunity. We’re already looking ahead to next year!
