WOMEN’S SOCCER
The Crossroads League announced its 2024 Women’s Soccer All-League teams and headlining the list for Huntington was sophomore Sophie Shepherd who earned a spot on the First Team.
The 5-4 sophomore was one of eight forwards in the conference to be named to the top tier. Shepherd finished the year with a team-best nine goals and was one of five Foresters to hand out three dimes for a total of 21 points.
Shepherd, an honorable mention pick a year ago, ranks fourth among her league peers in goals scored, sixth in total points and second in shots taken with 71.
Senior keeper Ireland Aerni was voted Honorable Mention which proves her fourth CL shoutout. The Austin (Texas) native has three honorable mention badges to her name as well as a First Team designation from last season.
Aerni tallied 77 saves, the second highest in the CL, through 14 games this fall to log a .770 save percentage which places her ninth among her league peers. On the season, she gave up 23 goals for a goal-against average of 1.73 per game.
The Foresters wrapped up the year with an overall record of 5-7-5 which included a 0-6-3 record in conference action.
