VOLLEYBALL

Five Foresters were honored by the Crossroads League for their outstanding play this season as announced by the national office earlier this afternoon.

Junior Layla Meyer (Monroeville, Ind./Heritage HS) has established herself as one of the finest at her craft. The 5-3 libero leads HU defensively and for her efforts was tabbed a Second Team All-League pick. She posted a team-leading 529 digs this fall for an average of 4.72 digs per set which ranks her fourth among her league peers. She was second on the team in assists with 71 and registered 24 aces on the year.

Meyer has garnered All-League honors in each of her three years in Forester green. As a rookie, Meyer was voted to the All-Freshmen Team as well as being a Second Team honoree. Last year she received an Honorable Mention shoutout.

Joining Meyer on the Second Team was junior Lauren Ross. The 5-9 setter ran the show for Coach Herber’s club. The Bellmont High School product handed out 9.04 assists per set, the fourth most in the Crossroads League. She also averaged 1.08 kills per set at a clip of .295, the fourth highest percentage in the CL, and 2.93 digs per set.

Junior Haley Kruse (Auburn, Ind./Lakewood Park Christian) was one of three Foresters to receive an Honorable Mention designation. For the second straight season, the 5-7 outside hitter led her team offensively, piling up 252 kills for a 2.29 kill per set average. She also posted 35 blocks, 220 digs and a team-best 31 aces.

Middle blocker Trevyn Terry (Stroh, Ind./Prairie Heights HS), a member of the All-Freshmen Team last year, was a force on both sides of the net for the Foresters this fall. In addition to logging 1.87 kills per set and a .245 hitting percentage, the 6-1 sophomore also tallied 85 blocks, 26 of which were of the solo variety, which averages out to 0.77 blocks per set.

For the second straight season, junior Leah Carter (Kokomo, Ind./Northwestern HS) was tabbed an Honorable Mention pick. It was her play at the net that caught the attention of the league coaches. The 6-1 middle finished the year with a team-best 88 blocks, 22 of which were solos, to go along with 198 kills for an average of 1.80 kills per set.

The Foresters wrapped up the fall with an overall record of 15-16 which included a 7-11 conference record.
