MEN’S SOCCER

The #RV HU men’s soccer team was sent home with a 2-0 loss to #RV Grace Saturday night at 1st Source Bank Field. With only a handful of regular season games remaining, the stakes get higher with each passing day as both teams have their eyes fixed on one of the top spots in the league.

Huntington came into the night in first place in the CL standings but after GC’s win, the two teams now have identical 5-2 CL records with results from around the league tonight weighing in where the two teams sit with two regular season games remaining.

The Lancers captured the lead in the 12th minute and then scored again before halftime to head into break with a 2-0 lead. Based on HU’s pressing style of play, no lead is too safe but Grace’s defense stood the test of time to notch their third straight shutout.

The Foresters fought until the bitter end with the final 15 minutes featuring several quality looks which included a Lancer defender clearing a shot at the goal line that would have kept things interesting had the visitors scored.

In the end, Huntington finished with 13 shots to GC’s ten but only four were on target. Dan Pellegrine took the loss in frame, finishing with three saves on the night.

With this loss, Potter’s crew drops to 11-4-1. HU has a week to prepare for their matchup with #6 IWU on Saturday at King Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
