WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

The recent NAIA rankings have four Crossroads League members ranked in the top 25. Coach Kelsey Herber’s squad took on 15th ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday and fell to the Cougars in straight sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-17).

Leading 9-8 in the opening set, MVNU scored six of the next seven points to take control. The second set was more of the same as the Cougars ran off six straight points to take a 17-11 lead that Mount Vernon (17-5, 10-2) would hold. The Foresters took a 12-11 lead in the third set, but once again the Cougars went on a seven point streak to regain control and complete the sweep.

Trevyn Terry led HU with seven kills on eight attack attempts. Leah Carter notched six kills, while Lauren Ross dished out 22 assists with four kills. The Foresters were unable to contain Mount Vernon Nazarene All-American Lyssi Snauffer as the senior outside hitter finished with 20 kills.

The Foresters (13-11, 5-7) will look to regroup on Saturday when they travel to Upland to take on the Taylor University Trojans at 3:00 p.m.
