MEN’S BASKETBALL

In addition to the Huntington men’s basketball team boasting two of the Crossroads League’s top ten players, the preseason polls as voted on by the head coaches also have the Foresters picked to finish second in the league as a team.

Senior Lane Sparks, a repeat preseason First Team selection, enters this season as the league’s third leading returning scorer having tossed in 21.5 points per game last year to go along with ripping down 4.3 rebounds and swiping 1.7 steals. The 6-3 guard scored his 1,000th career point in last year’s season opener and to date has 1,632 points.

Senior Landen Jordan joins Sparks on the preseason First Team. The 6-9 forward averaged 12.2 points per game last year while leading his team in rebounding (7.3) and blocks (1.3). He needs just 206 points to join HU’s 1,000-point club.

As a team, the Foresters are picked to finish second in the CL standings with IWU the early favorite, Grace third and Spring Arbor rounding out the top four.

HU opens up the season by hosting East-West on October 26 at 4:00 p.m.
