VOLLEYBALL
The Forester volleyball team snagged two of the three Crossroads League weekly volleyball honors as announced by the national office earlier today. Junior Layla Meyer was tabbed the Defender of the Week while sophomore Lauren Ross earned the Setter of the Week shoutout.
Meyer was the protector of the backline for HU last week, posting double-digit digs in all five matches. She scooped up at least 13 digs in each outing which included collecting 32 in a five-set thriller against Saint Xavier. For the week, the 5-3 libero racked up 95 digs for 4.5 digs per set to go along with six service aces. Her big week also included notching her 1,000th career dig against Siena Heights.
Ross filled the stat sheet to lead HU to a 4-1 record last week. In addition to handing out 222 assists (10.6 assists/set) in five matches for Coach Herber’s crew, she also averaged 3.0 digs and 1.1 kills per set.
The Foresters (7-3) kick off league play on Wednesday by making the quick trip to Fort Wayne where they will face Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m.
