Honey Harvest This Friday!
HU’s campus bees have been busy all summer, and now it is time for us to bring in the harvest! Faculty and staff are welcome to join the Hort Club from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in the Science Hall as we host our Fall Honey Harvest. This is a come and go event, but if you stay and help for at least an hour you get to take a free honey bear as our thanks to you! Look for the party in the first-floor Ware Plant Science Production Facility (greenhouse). This is a family friendly event and an amazing hands-on experience. Kids are welcome (kids older than 6-ish can jump right in and help out).
Don’t worry if bees aren’t your thing; there won’t be any bees present at this event! What we are doing on Friday is more properly called a “honey extraction,” where we are cutting the comb, spinning the honey out, filtering, and bottling it.
