WOMEN’S GOLF

The Huntington women’s golf team wrapped up the year by finishing fourth at the Crossroads League Championships at Otter Creek Golf Course by posting a program-record 54-hole score of 972. The Foresters started off by shooting a 330 and then fired a 321 in each of the next two rounds to start and end the tourney in fourth.

HU’s fourth place finish is the highest finish in the league tournament since the inception of the program in 2015.

Kira Moore set a new program-best for 54 holes by carding an 18-over-par 234 (80-79-75). She finished 10th out of 41 golfers to lead the HU pack.

Grace Dill claimed 15th with a 242 (85-78-79). Next for Coach Davis was Danielle Tinsley with a 246 (81-80-85) which earned her an 18th place finish. Abby Sheehan took 21st by turning in a 250 (84-84-82). Riley Kitson rounded out Huntington’s scores with a 272 (91-90-91) for the 34th spot.

“I’m so proud of this group,” said Coach Patrick Davis. “They continue to work hard and improve every year. This senior class started their freshmen year in last place in the conference and ended their career with a fourth place finish.

“It is a testament to the hard work our seniors and this team have put in over the years. It will be exciting moving forward with some new players in the lineup, and getting to show what they are capable of over the next few years.”

Marian took home the title with a 45-over-par 909 followed by IWU (922), Taylor (934), HU (972), Bethel (982), Grace (1001), Saint Francis (1076), Mount Vernon (1140) and Spring Arbor (1143).
