MEN’S GOLF

The HU men’s golf program topped the leaderboard at the AC Eddy Invitational Tuesday at Zollner Golf Course on the campus of Trine University. As a team, the Foresters fired a nine-over-par 293 to sit atop the 15-team event. It’s the second first place finish of the year for Dwyer’s crew with their first win this fall at the Cardinal Classic in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Three Foresters finished in the top five with Peyton Richmond and Mitchell Wilson each carding a one-over-par 72 to tie for third out of 76 golfers. Luke VanDeventer was one stroke back with a 73 to share a piece of fifth place.

Carter Roseboom turned in a 76 for 17th place while Colby Martin finished 24th with a 79.

Huntington’s second team finished eighth overall with a 32-over-par 316. Kaleb Ketchum led the pack with a 77 for 21st place. Trey Spring was two strokes back with a 79 for a 24th place finish. Brenner Lampton and Cooper Trigg tied for 31st place by shooting an 80. Brayden Cable took 40th with an 81.

Adam Waters (89) and Austin Batey (90) competed as individuals to finish 66th and 69th respectively.

HU beat second place Lourdes by six strokes followed by Trine A (302), Rochester A (302), Cleary (310), Trine B (311), Indiana Tech A (314), HU B (316), Siena Heights B (321), Trine D (321), Trine E (335), Rochester B (342), Indiana Tech B (344), Defiance (375) and Trine C (245).

Next up for Huntington is the Arbor Trace Invitational on Saturday.
