MEN’S BASKETBALL

After being named to the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List last month, HU’s Zach Goodline has made the cut to the Top 50 Watch List as announced by the National Awards Committee and Small College Basketball earlier today.

This elite list of 50 players represent schools from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. The Clarence “Bevo” Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations include season statistics, individual achievements and awards, personal character and team achievements.

This is the eighth year of the Bevo Francis Award. Next month, the Top 25 players will be announced with the finalists and Bevo Francis Award winner declared this spring.

Goodline put up career numbers last night in HU’s 99-79 win over #1 Grace. It was the Lancers’ first loss of the year. The 6-1 playmaker erupted for a career-best 39 points which included eight triples while handing out seven dimes.

The Coloma (Mich.) native currently leads the Foresters in scoring (21.8), assists (5.4) and steals (2.3). Additionally, he pulls down 3.4 boards per night. To date, Goodline has scored 2,304 points in green and white to sit fourth on HU’s all-time scoring list. He needs just 34 points to tie David Porter for the third spot.
