The HU bowling program competed in two tournaments over the weekend. The first event was an American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) tournament in Fort Wayne on Saturday after which the Foresters headed to Kentucky to compete in the Thomas N. Burris Memorial in the Louisville area. The format for both tourneys included five team games followed by 12 Baker games.

Bowling at Thunder Bowl #1 on Saturday, the Huntington women finished the day with a total score of 6527 for sixth place out of the 12-team field.  Brooklyn Suzuki led the women individually with an eighth place finish out of 71 bowlers by posting a five-game average of 194.6 for a total score of 973. The HU men enjoyed a seventh place finish out 17 teams with a total score of 7073. Senior Matt Foutz paced the Foresters with a score of 1102 for five games (220.4/game).

The Thomas Burris Memorial was held at two different bowling centers with the women bowling at Executive Strike and Spare while the men bowled at the relatively new Kingpin Lanes. As a team, the women took 12th out of 17 teams by knocking down 6324 pins. Suzuki continued with her hot hand to lead her team with an overall score of 918, for a five-game average of 183.6, to claim 28th place individually.

The men got off to a slow start but rallied back to snag ninth place with a score of 7314 on the day. The guys were as low as 17th in the 21-team field before roaring back in Baker play by shooting the second highest Baker set of any team with their 207 average. Senior Daniel Burzynski led the men with a 26th place finish having totaled 1016 for five games (203/game).

The Foresters are back in action on Saturday for the third Crossroads League Tournament in Indianapolis.
