VOLLEYBALL

The HU volleyball team started the weekend with a 3-1 loss, 25-23, 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, to a talented Bethel squad Friday night at Platt Arena. With one regular season match remaining, Huntington’s record stands at 16-13 overall, 6-11 in CL play.

It was a race to 25 in the first set with the 17th-ranked Pilots eventually the victors. The guests cruised to their next win before the Foresters rallied back to take set three. HU had moments of greatness in the final set to never let BU stray too far in front but Bethel’s power at the net proved too much as seven of their last nine points came by way of kills.

Leah Carter led a balanced Forester attack with 11 kills. Haley Kruse registered eight. Trevyn Terry and Maisyn Robrock finished with seven terminations apiece while Kortney Grimm put down six. Morgan Robrock handed out 32 dimes and posted 13 digs and three blocks, two of which were of the solo variety.

Layla Meyer collected 15 digs to spearhead HU’s defensive effort. Olivia Krahn added ten.

“I thought Morgan Robrock played a great match tonight,” said Coach Kelsey Herber. “She played aggressive defense, and she moved the ball around well offensively.

“We need to continue developing consistency moving forward and not allowing mental errors to take place in key moments of the match. We are going to focus on executing the details going into tomorrow’s match and are looking forward to celebrating our seniors.”

Herber and crew are back in action tomorrow afternoon to host Grace at 3:00 p.m.
