MEN’S SOCCER

Saturday afternoon at Cougar Soccer Complex was a match the Huntington men’s soccer team would just as soon forget having suffered a 4-1 loss to Spring Arbor.

Starting in the 15th minute, the Cougars scored three times within a 12-minute span to bolt in front 3-0. It blew the game wide open as HU spent the rest of the match chasing their hosts without making up any ground. SAU scored once more in the second half before freshman Jonathan Ruiz finally found back netting for HU with just under eight minutes remaining. It marks his first goal in Forester green.

Spring Arbor finished with 14 shots to HU’s eight with shots on goal favoring the hosts 9-5. Corner kicks also tipped in SAU’s favor 6-3.

With this loss, Huntington drops to 4-5-4 overall which includes a 1-2-1 record in league play. Lawson and crew return to King Stadium on Wednesday to host Taylor at 7:00 p.m.
