TRACK & FIELD
Competing in the two-day Crossroads League Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Marian’s SVHF Track & Field Complex, the Foresters brought home 17 All-Conference badges which included six conference championship titles. The Forester women’s squad finished with 50 points for seventh place while the Forester men scored 54 points for the No. 8 spot in the final standings.
Destiny Copeland was a three-time All-Conference honoree with her most notable performance coming in the heptathlon where she racked up a meet and HU record of 4647 points. She also won long jump in 5.60 meters and finished third in triple jump with a hop, skip and jump.
Addy Wiley claimed a conference title in the 800 meters by clocking in 2:05.18 which proves an NAIA-leading time as well as a meet and Huntington record. She also anchored HU’s 4×800 meter relay team that posted a second place finish in an automatically qualifying time of 9:15.69. The other three members of the relay team included Destinee McGrady, Emily Tedder and Mackenzie Brewer.
On the men’s side, Zach Collins defended his title in the 200 meters in a winning time of 21.49. He earned a second piece of All-Conference hardware in the 100 meters by clocking in at 10.70 for third place.
Dylan Felger earned his third straight CL title in the 400 meter hurdles in 52.74 which also proved an A standard.
Austin Liepe was the conference champ in the 5000 meters with his B-standard and PR time of 14:45.17. Kent Yoder took second in the 10,000 meters in 31:37.14. Rounding out Huntington’s All-League performances was the 4×400 meter relay team made up of Collins, Blake Miller, Jonah Lemmon and Felger that finished third in 3:20.11.
Other point-getters for Huntington included Emily Tedder in the 5000 meters (5th | 18:47.28), 4×400 meter relay (Lydia Baker, Trysta Hilton, Brielle Fehlmann, Brewer) (8th | 4:25.17), Aanyah Wright in javelin (8th | 28.35 meters) and Chandler Minnich in pole vault (5th | 4.55 meters).
HU will compete in IWU’s Last Chance Meet on May 12-13.
