WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD

The Huntington women’s track and field program swept the Crossroads League’s weekly outdoor honors as announced by the national office earlier today.

Destiny Copeland was voted the CL Women’s Outdoor T/F Field Athlete of the Week based on her outstanding performance in jumps at two different meets last week. She posted automatic qualifying marks in long jump (5.87 meters) and triple at the Drake Relays which included breaking her own HU record in triple jump with a distance of 12.11 meters. She later competed in the Kip Janvrin Open where she won long jump (5.86 meters).

The graduate student transfer currently ranks #3 among her NAIA peers across the nation in long jump and #5 among her NAIA peers in triple jump.

Freshman Addy Wiley was tabbed the CL Women’s Outdoor T/F Track Athlete of the Week. The rookie phenom set a new NAIA record and Huntington record in the 1500 meters at the Drake Relays by clocking in at 4:12.53. She finished fourth among a field of 12 professionals and one other college athlete.

Earlier in the week, Wiley ran the USATF Road Mile Championship where she took third in 4:31 which proves the third fastest time since 1987 for a collegiate athlete.

For Copeland and Wiley it’s the third time this year the pair has swept the CL weekly track honors having done so twice during the indoor season.

Next up for the Foresters is the Crossroads League Outdoor Championships May 4-5 in Indianapolis.
