BOWLING

The Huntington bowling program finished the regular season with the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic, one of the largest tournaments in the country featuring 947 bowlers. The tourney format included six team games on Saturday and 15 Baker games on Sunday. The top eight in each division then moved on to a bracketed match play to determine the winner.

The HU women finished 26th out of the field of 65 teams with a two-day score of 8337. Freshman Lilly Pryor led the charge with a 1166 six-game total for a 194.3 per game average.

On the men’s side, the Foresters placed 43rd out of 78 teams with a total pin count of 8364. Freshman Jacob Perry paced HU with a score of 1205 over six games for a 200.8 average.

“This was the highest scoring Hoosier Classic I can remember,” noted Coach Mike Shockey. “The women shot spares pretty well but couldn’t find a strike. The guys could strike but missed a lot of easy spares.

“The guys bowled in the morning and I was pretty happy with our overall scores until I saw the scoring pace of the whole field. We’ll be back at the same bowling center for the Crossroads Championship tournament. The freshmen will be better prepared on what to expect with lane transitions. We’ll be a lot tougher team to beat when we come back.”

The Crossroads League Championships are slated for this Saturday in Indianapolis.
