VOLLEYBALL

The #RV Bethel Pilots (19-10, 11-6) made quick work of the HU volleyball team Friday night at Gates Gymnasium by handing their guests a 3-0 loss ((25-17, 25-14, 25-21). Just like the first time these two squads met up this fall, BU’s defense at the net was the thorn in HU’s side.

The Foresters struggled to get much going offensively compliments of Bethel’s wall. The Pilots finished with nine blocks to limit Herber and crew to just 22 kills and a .038 hitting percentage. Kortney Grimm collected six kills for her team while De’Janea Johnson and Tya Bynum finished with five and four kills respectively.

Morgan Robrock handed out 18 dimes. Huntington’s backline defense was a shared task with Layla Meyer picking up seven digs, Grimm tracking down six and Robrock posting five.

“One of our areas of growth is attacking against a strong block, and Bethel is the best blocking team in our conference. We struggled to be effective offensively,” noted Coach Kelsey Herber. “This is a unique point in our season where all we can do is flip a switch mentally and step on the floor tomorrow for our last match of the regular season and be the best teammate we can be.

“It’s time to end our regular season on a high note!”

With one regular season match remaining, HU’s record stands at 14-17 overall which includes a 7-10 Crossroads League record. The Foresters are on the road again tomorrow to face Grace at 3:00 p.m.
