HUTC invites homeschool students to “Our Town” matinee

Do you want to give your homeschool student(s) an exciting and educational theatrical experience? The Huntington University Theatre Company would like to invite you to a special matinee performance of Thornton Wilder’s classic play Our Town on Friday, October 7 at 9:30 a.m. in the Merillat Centre for the Arts Studio Theatre.

Directed by Mary Beth Frank and featuring HU students/faculty and Huntington community members, this play was described by Edward Albee as “the greatest American play ever written.” Our Town presents the small town of Grover’s Corners in three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage,” and “Death and Eternity.” Narrated by a stage manager, the play depicts the simple daily lives of the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry, and eventually — in one of the most famous scenes in American theatre — die. For some additional information about the play and its author, visit thorntonwilder.com/our-town.

To enhance your student’s experience with the play, Huntington University will provide you with a complimentary packet of information about the play and its author. There will also be links to digital resources as well as questions you can consider with your student(s) after you view the play.

Tickets are $5 per student, and adult chaperones receive their ticket free. Ready to purchase your tickets? Call the HU Box Office at (260) 359-4261 to reserve your seats today!

Feel free to contact producer Ryan Long at rlong@huntington.edu with any questions you may have about this performance. We hope you are able to join us!
