WOMEN’S SOCCER

Playing IU East for the first time in program history on Wednesday, the Huntington women’s soccer team came up short, 2-1, against the Red Wolves (1-2-4) at Centerville High School.

The hosts scored within the first eight minutes forcing the Foresters to play catch up all afternoon. The Red Wolves struck again less than ten minutes later to double their lead. Janae Good kept things interesting with a bomb from 30 yards out found back netting just before intermission to give her team new life.

The goal was Good’s third of the season.

The second half saw Lewis’ squad outshoot IUE 7-4 but they couldn’t translate that into a scoreboard change as the final 45 minutes quietly came and went to make for the 2-1 final. A pair of freshmen in Savannah Grove and Tara Robinson each spent a half in frame with Grove being charged with the loss as both goals happened on her watch.

Overall, Coach David Lewis was pleased with his team’s play. “We are playing well enough to win games and hopefully the results will start coming. The effort was good, especially in the second half.”

The Foresters (2-6) wrap-up their three-game week by hosting Anderson Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
