Peters to Retire
In 1986 the median household income in the U.S. was $23,618, a first-class stamp cost 20 cents and a gallon of gas cost $1.20. Dr. Habecker was the Huntington College president, we started the fall semester with 498 students, and Carlene Peters began her tenure with HC.
Since that time salaries and expenses have increased across the country and we have added nearly 900 students to the University. During many of the years since 1986, Carlene has worked in the Office of Admissions, having a hand in the recruitment of thousands of students as an admissions counselor, in conference services, and as campus visit coordinator. She has also been a mentor, a motivator, and a friend to many students. Her love for HU is unsurpassed, and her commitment to Christ is strong.
Please join me in wishing Carlene well as she retires from Huntington University. She will be missed.
“We were pleased to add Carlene Peters to our staff in January. Carlene is a 1981 graduate and has proved to be a very hard-working individual who has already logged literally tens of thousands of miles in pursuit of student prospects.” Taken from the President’s Annual Report, October 1986.
