BOWLING

HU junior Amber Elliott has tabbed one of the top bowlers in the country as announced by the NAIA national office earlier today. The Northwood (Ohio) native was one of six athletes to earn Second Team All-American status. She and Tandess O’Neal of Marian were the only Crossroads League bowlers to be deemed All-Americans this season.

Over the course of the season, Elliott posted a 193.22 average through 45 games. She was even more impressive in Crossroads League play where she turned in a 196.8 average in the four regular season tournaments. It proved the second highest among her CL peers and for her efforts was a First Team All-Conference pick.

Elliott was named to the All-Tournament Team in three of the four conference tourneys and guided her team to the team title in the first CL outing of the year. As a team, the Foresters finished second at the Crossroads League Championships earlier this month.

“We are really proud of Amber,” said Coach Mike Shockey. “She is a hard worker and the leader of our team.

“She has dealt with some injuries this year, but her toughness and willingness to give her all every game is inspiring to watch. This was a little unexpected, but certainly a well-deserved honor for Amber.”
