BOWLING

Among the list of Crossroads League All-Conference bowling honorees were six Foresters as announced by the league office earlier today. The league added bowling as a sponsored sport this past fall.

On the women’s side, junior Amber Elliott (Northwood HS, Northwood, Ohio) and sophomore Katie Fraser (Elkhart Central HS, Elkhart, Ind.) were two of five bowlers to garner First Team All-Conference praises.

Elliott posted a 196.8 average in the four Crossroads League regular season tournaments which proved the second highest among her CL peers. She was named to the All-Tournament Team in three of the four tourneys.

Fraser claimed the third highest average in the league (190.3) to also be deemed one of the league’s best. She was twice named to the All-Tournament Team which included bringing home the individual title in the second tournament.

Senior Jessica Fraser (Elkhart Central HS, Elkhart, Ind.) also turned in an impressive average of 178.9, the ninth best in the CL, through the four matches to be tabbed Second Team All-Conference.

As a team, Huntington women claimed the first ever Crossroads League team title by winning the inaugural tournament with a total score of 6,387.

Sophomore Derek Leyba had a great run in CL action to claim a spot on the men’s First Team. His 211.7 average over the course of the four league tournaments was the second highest in the CL. He claimed two All-Tournament Team badges.

Joining Leyba as a First Team All-Conference choice was senior Austin Schultz (Portage HS, Valparaiso, Ind.) who carded the fourth highest average in the league (209.0) and collected an All-Tournament Team honor in the final Crossroads League tournament of the season.

Rounding out Huntington’s All-Conference selections was sophomore Matt Foutz. The Logansport native (Logansport HS) finished eighth in the CL standings with a 200.8 average for a seat on the Second Team.

The Crossroads League also announced its Champions of Character award winners which included Forester picks Sydney Fahrer and Dylan Herring.

Rounding out the list of postseason honors included student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom. Three Foresters in Dylan Herring, Amber Elliott and Jessica Fraser were among those named to the CL All-Academic Team.
