MEN’S GOLF

Huntington University athletics has announced the hiring of Connor Dwyer as the next men’s golf coach. Dwyer is the program’s seventh head coach.

“I am extremely honored to become a part of this prestigious university and look forward to growing the golf team,” said Dwyer. “I have always dreamed of building my own golf program and have learned a lot from my previous experiences.

“I would like to thank Lori Culler, Russ Degitz and the entire interview committee for giving me this opportunity to grow the program and trusting me in developing the young men to become better Christians, golfers and professionals in their young careers.”

Dwyer brings a variety of golf experience to the position, which includes most recently serving several years as an assistant men’s golf coach at his alma mater Trine University. During his time at Trine, he helped guide the team to the program’s first two conference championships and a trip to nationals. Over the course of his three years on staff, 12 players earned All-Conference honors.

Dwyer also brings unique knowledge to the position as a sales representative for Cleveland Golf/Srixon. His resume also includes working a combined five years at Bella Vista Golf Course and Golf Club of Coldwater, both in Michigan.

“We are excited to have Connor join our coaching staff as our head men’s golf coach,” said Athletic Director Lori Culler. “He comes to HU after having served as an assistant coach for his alma mater at Trine University the past three years.

“As a coach, he helped lead the program to its first two conference championships in school history. We’re anxious to see where the program will go under his direction.”

A four-year member of the Thunder golf team, Dwyer was a two-time MIAA (Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) All-Conference honoree. On six different occasions, he was the MIAA individual medalist. His success in the classroom was also well documented, having earned a pair of Cleveland Golf/Srixon Academic All-American and Academic All-Conference badges during his playing career.

Dwyer graduated from Trine in 2016 with degrees in business administration and golf management.
