HU freshman Shelby Christman and senior Dylan Felger headlined the 2022 Crossroads League Indoor Track & Field Championships by being tabbed the Female and Male Most Valuable Track Athlete of the Meet respectively.

Felger was a three-time conference champion, establishing a new PR and breaking the conference record in each event, on the way to piling up 30 points. His dominance began on Friday when he won the 600 meters in 1:18.35.

On Saturday, the Ossian native sprinted his way to first in the 400 meters in 47.92 and then capped things off by running a 21.99 in the 200 meters to earn his third All-Conference praise. He currently sits atop the nation in the 400 and 600 meters.

Competing in her first indoor league championship, Christman racked up four All-Conference honors for 22.5 points. Her first two pieces of All-Conference hardware came on Friday in a pair of relays.

She along with Sydney Lambert, Emily Tedder and Abigail Mays kicked off the afternoon by placing second in the 4×800 in 9:29.12. Running it for the first time this season, they hit the A standard. The foursome followed that up by winning the DMR later in the day with a time of 12:14.38.

Christman was back it on Saturday to post two PRs. After running to a second place finish in the mile in 5:03.34, which proved an A standard, she capped off her weekend as the conference champion in the 3000 meters by clocking in at 9:59.53 which set a new conference record and earner her another A standard.

Lambert was also a conference champion for the Foresters. The sophomore from Norwell HS took first in the 1000 meters in 3:00.25 to set a new PR and claim an automatic bid to nationals.

HU earned several other All-Conference designations. On the women’s side, Mays took third in the 800 meters in 2:19.54 which proved a B standard.

On the men’s side, Noah Bise turned in a pair of All-Conference performances with a second place finish in long jump (7.10 meters) and triple jump (14.15 meters*PR). Elijah Chesterman also received two All-Conference honors by finishing second in the mile (4:14.79*PR) and third in the 1000 meters (2:31.13). Cam Worsham rounded out the Foresters’ All-Conference accolades by taking second in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.33.

When all was said and done, HU set four conference records and brought home five individual titles, a relay title and 20 All-Conference badges. As a team, the men finished fifth with 87.5 points while the women took sixth with 64 points.

Other point getters for HU included Sydni Ausberry in the 60 meters (5th, 7.96), Tedder in the 1000 meters (5th, 3:07.99), Aanyah Wright in weight throw (5th, 14.80 meters), Josiah Sovine in the 600 meters (7th, 1:23.87), Aaron Hendryx in the mile (7th, 4:20.93 B standard), Kent Yoder in the 3000 meters (6th, 8:33.39*PR A standard) and 5000 meters (4th, 14:47.05*PR), Austin Liepe in the 5000 meters (6th, 15:01.73*PR A standard), Reece Gibson in the 3000 meters (8th, 8:42.65), Kyler Bourne in pole vault (8th, 4.35 meters*PR), M 4×800 (8th, 8:41.22) and M DMR (5th, 10:24.32).

Huntington finishes out their indoor season at NAIA Nationals in Brooking, S.D. on March 3-5.
