MEN’S TENNIS

The HU men’s tennis team kicked off the spring portion of its schedule at the Grand Rapids Racquet Club & Fitness where they slipped past Aquinas 4-3 before being downed by Cornerstone 4-0.

After heading into singles play down a point against the Saints, Poncio’s crew quickly got on track with early wins from Diego Tapia and Valentin Mussi after which Alejo Bagnera wrapped up the victory by outlasting Joel Hancox, 6-3, 7-5, at #1 singles for the final point.

The match with Cornerstone went late into the night and was called after the Golden Eagles picked up the four necessary points for the win. With the split, the Foresters improve to 9-8 on the year. HU is off now until February 26 when they travel to Olivet Nazarene University.
