WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Playing at Marshall Gymnasium for the first time in program history, the Forester women’s basketball team took a 25-22 lead into intermission before dropping a 60-47 decision to the Eagles of Midway University (12-4) Thursday afternoon.
HU takes great pride in their defense and made that abundantly clear by holding Midway more than 20 points below their season average. Culler’s squad limited the Eagles to just 35.6 percent shooting for the contest while forcing 19 turnovers.
On the offensive end, the second quarter proved Huntington’s high point. Audrey Cable sparked her team by scoring four of the Foresters’ 16 points in the ten-minute segment to send Huntington into the locker room with a three-point advantage.
Unfortunately, the guests’ offense dried up in the second half. HU managed just seven field goals in the final 20 minutes to be to be outscored by 16.
Maddy Robrock scored nine of her 14 points after the break as one of three Foresters to finish in double figures. Emily Seboe added 13 points, six rebounds and four steals. Erica Zook tossed in ten points and topped HU with seven boards and five assists.
Dezeree White and Jill Goldey paced Midway with 14 points each.
Today’s loss wraps up Huntington’s play in 2021. The Foresters (2-13) jump back into league action on January 5 when they take on Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m.
