TRACK & FIELD

Junior Haile Stutzman earned the league’s first Indoor T&F Track Athlete of the Week honor of the season as announced by the national office earlier this afternoon.

Stutzman qualified for NAIA Nationals in the 3,000 meters Friday afternoon at Indiana Tech’s Strive for Greatness meet by clocking in at 8:24. His time is tops in the nation among his NAIA peers. His winning time also broke the school record by four seconds.

It’s the second event Stutzman has earned an automatic bid to Nationals with his first coming last weekend in the 5K at the Mastodon Open. His time of 14:31.77 not only set a new HU record by 13 seconds but proves the fastest 5,000 meters in the NAIA.

Stutzman and crew are off until January 15 when they compete in the Sean Brady Conditioner hosted by Trine University.
