Sophomore Derek Leyba made program history this afternoon by being named the first HU bowler to earn Crossroads League Bowler of the Week honors as announced by the national office earlier today.
Bowling was formally added to the league’s list of sponsored sports as announced by the Crossroads League earlier this fall.
The Crown Point native totaled 1,319 pins over the weekend at the USBC National Collegiate Team Match Games to finish third overall out of 121 bowlers. His six-game average was an impressive 219.8 and for his efforts was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Foresters finished 9th out of 16 teams with a pin total of 9,718 which included 20 Baker games and six regular team games. Next up for Shockey’s crew is the Motiv Warhawk Open on December 4-5.
