The Crossroads League announced its 2021 Men’s Soccer All-League honorees and headlining the list for Huntington was senior James Lighton.

In addition to earning First Team All-Conference praises, Lighton (Southend, England) was tabbed the best defender in the league as voted on by the CL coaches. The designation is the program’s second with Jake Erlandson earning the honor in 2019.

As Huntington’s left center back, Lighton anchored a backline that gave up an average of 1.21 goals per night and logged eight clean sheets. The hard-nosed defender also found back netting twice.

Joining Lighton on the First Team were two of his classmates in keeper Gabe Greenfield and midfielder Eric Ocock. The last time three Foresters earned All-Conference honors in the same year was 2002.

A starter for Lawson from day one, Greenfield racked up a cumulative record of 37-19-9 in frame during his four-year tenure in green and white which included going 7-4-1 this past fall. The Brazilian tracked down 95 saves and gave up 22 goals this season for a save percentage of .812. He also claimed eight shutouts which currently ranks him 11th among his NAIA peers across the nation.

Ocock (Warsaw HS, Warsaw, Ind.) also earned the respect of the league coaches for his offensive firepower. The senior midfielder led the team in scoring with six goals and four assists for 16 points which included striking for three goals and assisting three others in league play. He was a perfect 3-for-3 in penalty kicks on the year.

As a team, HU finished the year with an overall record of 9-6-4.
