WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Huntington women’s soccer team fell victim to #15 Grace, 6-0, under the lights at 1st Source Bank Field Saturday night. Six of the Lancers (7-4-1, 2-1-1) seven wins have been shutouts this fall.

The hosts racked up three goals within the opening 30 minutes to put the Foresters behind the eight ball early on from which they never recovered. Grace would go on to add another goal in the first half before adding two more in the final stanza.

Megan Smitha and Alex Bryant were the only Foresters to fire off a shot with the majority of play staying in the Lancers’ attacking half.

“Grace worked the ball well tonight and put us on our heels,” said Coach David Lewis. “We played better soccer in the second half. Field conditions prohibited us from training outside much of this week but that’s not an excuse.”

Huntington’s record stands at 3-5-3 overall, 0-3-1 in league play. It doesn’t get any easier for Lewis and crew as they host #8 Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
