BOWLING
Earlier this month, the Crossroads League formally announced its plan to add men’s and women’s bowling to its list of sponsored sports, moving the number of sports offered within the league to 20.
Huntington is one of six schools in the Crossroads League to currently offer men’s and women’s bowling as a varsity sport. Along with Bethel, Indiana Wesleyan, Marian, Mount Vernon Nazarene and Spring Arbor, HU is set to compete for the first-ever CL bowling titles this winter. Grace has announced the addition of bowling and will become the seventh CL school to compete in the sport with plans to transition from a club sport level to varsity status in the near future.
The inaugural bowling championship will be determined based off results from four regular season league meets hosted between October and February, with the league’s automatic bid to NAIA Nationals up for grabs.
Huntington added bowling in 2012 and six years later the program joined the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC). During this three-year stint with the WHAC, the Foresters racked up six All-Conference honors between the men’s and women’s program which included Amber Elliott being tabbed the 2020 Newcomer of the Year.
Coach Shockey and crew kick off the season with the Midwest Collegiate Championships on October 2-3.
