MEN’S TENNIS

The Forester men’s team (1-1, 1-1) kicked off its season at Klopfenstein Courts with a pair of league matches that saw Spring Arbor top HU 4-3 after which the hosts blanked #RV Marian later in the day for the split.

Against the Cougars in the morning, HU picked up the point in doubles play after which Mateo Ameller, at #2 singles, and Niko Rongos, at #4 singles, won at their respective spots while Alejo Bagnera and Bautista Rodriguez Aguilar came up on the wrong end of three-set thrillers at #1 and #5 singles to be denied the overall win.

Huntington took care of business against the Knights in the afternoon with a 4-0 win. The match was called once the Foresters collected the four points necessary for the victory.

Poncio’s squad will square off against Bethel and Indiana Wesleyan on September 4 in Mishawaka.
