MEN’S TENNIS

The NAIA released its 2021 national men’s tennis awards, and among the list of honorees was junior Alejo Bagnera. The Cumberland transfer garnered Honorable Mention All-American accolades as one of just four Foresters in program history to earn an All-American badge.

“Alejo has been a leader on and off the court,” said HU Coach Ignacio Poncio. “He deserves this milestone and will be a key player to help take us to the next level.”

As HU’s No. 1 player, Bagnera racked up a 17-5 singles record over the course of the year. After earning All-Conference hardware this fall, his accomplishments also included making it to the semifinals of the ITA Regional Championships as the fourth seed.

The Santa Fe, Argentina native also received national attention from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) by ranking 23rd on the list of the nation’s top 50 NAIA players as released by the ITA last fall.

The Foresters finished the year with an overall record of 12-7.
