The Huntington baseball team was well represented on the list of 2021 Crossroads League All-Conference honorees as announced by the league office earlier today.

The Foresters landed three position players on the All-Conference Team in Daniel Lichty, Ian McCutcheon and Satchell Wilson.

For Lichty, this is his second All-Conference badge. The London HS product (Denfield, ONT) has hammered out 64 hits, 23 for extra bases. He’s driven in a team-leading 47 runs, racked up a team-best 107 total bases and scored 49 times.

As one of the most dangerous hitters in the league, Lichty claims a .354 batting average to currently rank 6th in the league. The senior third baseman is among the top ten in seven other categories including 8th in slugging percentage (.591), 10th in runs scored/game (1.00), 5th in hits/game (1.31), 6th in RBI/game (0.96), 9th in homeruns (9), 4th in total bases/game (2.18) and 2nd in stolen bases (27).

Defensively, Lichty also was named to the Gold Glove Team for his efforts at third base. He’s committed eight errors at the hot spot for a fielding percentage of .946, has turned seven double plays and ranks 9th in the league in assists with 94.

After earning Honorable Mention accolades last year, Wilson was named the All-Conference shortstop this season. The junior from Anderson (Lapel HS) tops HU in hits with 66 in addition to posting a team-high .382 batting average, the 2nd best in the CL. He has collected 46 RBI and touched home 44 times.

Among his league peers, Wilson ranks 1st in triples (4), 4th in hits/game (1.35), 8th in RBI/game (0.94), 9th in total bases/game (1.94), 6th in on base percentage (.453) and 3rd in stolen bases (25).

McCutcheon, also an Honorable Mention pick last season, claimed a spot on the All-League Team as an outfielder. He is currently hitting .326 and has tallied 60 hits on the year which includes 18 doubles, three triples and four homers while driving in 37 runs and touching home a team-leading 53 times. He carries a .522 slugging percentage and has racked up 96 total bases.

McCutcheon’s name appears is in the top ten in the league in six different offensive categories which includes being ranked 6th in runs scored/game (1.08), 8th in hits/game (1.22), 2nd in doubles (18), 5th in triples (3), 8th in total bases/game (1.96) and 5th in stolen bases (23).

The junior centerfielder also garnered Gold Glove honors for his defensive efforts. He has committed four errors on the season for a .970 fielding percentage.

Senior pitcher Mason Shinabery (Bellmont HS, Decatur, Ind.) claimed his third All-Conference honor of his Forester career by way of an Honorable Mention badge this season. The HU ace has accumulated seven wins, the 4th best in the league, and a save this season.

In his 72.2 innings on the mound, Shinabery has limited opponents to a .260 batting average, 74 hits, 38 runs and 17 walks. He ranks 6th among his league peers in strikeouts (78) and walks allowed per game (2.11), 8th in strikeouts per game (9.66) and 10th in ERA (4.09).

Camden Dice was also tabbed an Honorable Mention pick as an outfielder. The Clare (Mich.) native (Clare HS/Grand Valley State Univ.) has pounded out 49 hits which includes 16 doubles, which ranks him 4th in the CL, and four dingers. He also boasts a batting average of .338 for the 9th best percentage in the league. He has knocked in 33 runs, scored 28 times and tallied 77 total bases.

Dice is also one of HU’s starting pitchers. He currently sits atop the league in innings pitched per game (6.08) and ranks 9th with his six wins. The senior hurler has given up 87 hits, 47 runs, and 21 walks while striking out 55 in his 73.0 innings pitched. He claims a 4.93 ERA and is holding opponents to a .290 batting average.

Rounding out the list of Honorable Mention pics is Langston Ginder (Carroll HS/Ball State Univ., Huntertown, Ind.). The junior second baseman posted 57 hits, 24 for extra bases, and 90 total bases. He touched home 51 times and logged 31 RBI. In the league, he ranks 2nd in doubles (18), 8th in runs scored/game (1.04) and 5th in triples (3).

The Foresters finished the year with a 33-16 record.
