1950s-70s Clothing Collection Friday and Saturday

Today and tomorrow, May 14-15, from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the PLEX, the DMA film program is collecting clothing from the 1950s-1970s for an upcoming feature film project entitled Glenn Frank. This May-Term, 14 film students, along with professional filmmakers and actors from around the country, will shoot a trailer, music video, and other promotional materials for a feature film to be produced in May 2022.

Because the film is set in rural Michigan in 1973, we are asking for donations of adult and children’s clothing from the ’50s-’70s to outfit over 50 actors and extras. Clothes resembling the era are also welcomed. Clothing needed:

• Women’s and girls’ dresses, skirts, blouses, cardigans/shawls, hats, and shoes
• Men’s and boys’ slacks, dark-washed jeans, plain or patterned t-shirts, short and long-sleeved dress shirts, suits, hats, Converse All-stars, dress shoes

Inspired by a true story from the UB Church, Glenn Frank tells how a young pastor’s kid with a dream to play guitar and his father, desperate to unite four small churches under one new roof, find the one person who can help them both – Glenn Frank – a washed-up, alcoholic country singer who happens to be a carpenter. As the pastor and Glenn work together on the church, Glenn secretly teaches the boy guitar, and the entire community comes together to find healing and unity through tragedy and redemption.
