BASEBALL

The #RV Forester baseball team took a break from league play to host Lourdes (15-26) for a single nine Tuesday afternoon at Forest Glen. HU scored in every inning to run away with a 21-9 win.

It’s the most runs Huntington has scored in a game since they handed Goshen a 21-1 loss in 2017.

Kallen Kelsheimer registered HU’s only long ball, sending it over the right field fence in the second for his second collegiate dinger. He finished with three hits on the afternoon as one of 17 Foresters who stepped up to the plate.

The game saw Huntington crank out a season-high 20 hits with Ian McCutcheon leading the way. The junior centerfielder went 5-for-5 which included two doubles and a triple. He also scored five times and drove in three runs. Jarret Gray was perfect at the plate as well having gone 3-for-3 in addition to picking up an RBI and touching home three times.

Owen Young added three hits and two RBI while Langston Ginder finished with two hits and just as many RBI. In addition to their hit-fest, Frame’s crew drew 11 base on balls as part of their dominant performance at the plate.

Four Foresters spent time on the hill with Max Meisner working the first three frames to earn the win having surrendered three hits, five runs and a walk while striking out two.

HU (28-13) wraps up the regular season this weekend by hosting Saint Francis. There’s a lot riding on this four-game series as the Foresters, sitting fourth in the CL standings, are two games back from USF and Taylor who are currently tied for second place. The Trojans host Marian to close out their regular season.
