Fulbright Scholar in Residence Opportunity

The U.S. Department of State and the Institute of International Education (IIE) are soliciting applications from institutions like HU to apply to host a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (S-I-R) during the 2022-2023 academic year.

They are especially keen to support applications from small liberal arts colleges. Our contacts there want to help us put together a successful application, but they need to know our interests and needs. To identify how the program may meet our needs, we need to know what it offers.

The S-I-R Program benefits institutions through support to:

Bring an international scholar to your institution for an academic semester or full year.
The Fulbright Program provides J-visa sponsorship, travel, and a modest living stipend to Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence (S-I-Rs) who enhance internationalization efforts at diverse U.S. institutions through:

• Teaching courses
• Curriculum development
• Guest lecturing
• Cross-campus activities
• Developing study abroad/exchange partnerships
• Community engagement

Institutional hosts usually apply to host a Scholar-in-Residence in a discipline that would benefit from a comparative or international perspective.

If your department or division could benefit from an additional professor for a semester, or year, at very low cost to HU, please email Kevin Drury (kdrury@huntington.edu), and we will begin conversations.  We’d need approval from the dean early on obviously, but at this point, I am simply querying for interest.
