CROSS COUNTRY
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its National Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2020 NAIA Cross Country season which included HU sophomore Emma Wilson being tabbed the National Women’s Athlete of the Year.
Wilson topped off her storied season by claiming the individual title at the 2020 NAIA Cross Country Championships this past weekend. Right out of the gate, the Greencastle native distanced herself from the pack to win by over 35 seconds in 17:02.
The University of Illinois transfer went undefeated. Her resume includes winning the Taylor Midwest Challenge, the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede, the Indiana Wesleyan Twilight Classic and HU’s own meet and breaking the course record at each stop.
Her time of 16:24 at the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede proved the women’s fastest collegiate 5K time nationally across all divisions this year.
