The HU bowling program was well represented in the 2021 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) postseason honors as announced by the league office over the weekend.

On the women’s side, sophomore Amber Elliott was one of six bowlers to earn First Team All-Conference honors. The Northwood (Ohio) native averaged a 195.33 in the four WHAC Jamborees to be deemed one of the league’s best. It’s her second straight year to be named to the top team. Her resume also includes being tabbed last year’s Newcomer of the Year.

Freshman Paige New averaged a 191.17 in league play to garner Second Team All-Conference praises. The rookie standout claimed the individual title at the first jamboree which additionally landed her WHAC Bowler of the Week accolades for the week of January 25.

The WHAC also announced its Champions of Character award winners which included Huntington’s DaYanira Garza and Heath Atkins. Coach Mike Shockey was named the Women’s Champions of Character Coach of the Year as voted on by his peers.

Rounding out the list of postseason honors included student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom. Five Foresters in Kyndal Collins, Jessica Fraser, Heath Atkins, Dylan Herring and Jordan Herring were among those named to the WHAC All-Academic Team.
