The HU volleyball team was back in action over the weekend for a tri-match at Aquinas. After a 3-0 loss to the host Saints, the Foresters dropped a three-set decision to Spring Arbor.

Aquinas, receiving votes in the latest national NAIA poll and playing its main season this spring, is off to a hot start and continued that trend on Saturday by sweeping HU, 25-17, 25-13, 25-22, to improve to 11-1.

The Foresters were offensively led by Lindsay Ingenito’s six kills. The 5-9 junior also tallied two of her team’s six blocks. Tya Bynum added five kills. Abby Robinson chipped in four in addition to digging up eight balls. Morgan Robrock handed out 17 assists and came up with 1.5 blocks. Sam Gray topped her team in digs with nine.

This fall, HU split with Spring Arbor in league play with today’s rubber match favoring the Cougars in three, 25-10, 25-19, 25-13. Ingenito repeated as Huntington’s kill leader with seven. Megan Horton collected six with Bynum and Robinson adding four kills apiece. In addition to dishing out 19 assists, Robrock also paced her team with nine digs.

Coach Herber remains optimistic about her team’s progress this spring. “We defined success for this tri-match as being able to walk out of the gym knowing we got better as individuals and a team. I believe we accomplished that. I am eager to get back in the gym so we can continue to train and lay our foundation for the fall.

Confidence develops through repetition. We will get both offensive and defensive reps in the gym these next couple of weeks to prepare us for our next matchup.”

Huntington (3-17) wraps up the spring portion of its season on March 27 with a match against Indiana Tech.
