Calling Faculty & Staff Actors!

Hey there, friends! Juniors are casting for their junior film thesis projects. Below is a casting call from Rachael Berggren for the comedy “Honest Living.”
Casting “Honest Living”
Synopsis: When a hick carjacking criminal couple have an unplanned pregnancy, they must assimilate into normal society and find real jobs, or else forfeit their child.
This film is a “Shameless” + “Wes Anderson” dramedy with whacky characters and plenty of heart. When a carjacking couple, Scott and Jane, find out they’re expecting, their crime gang abandons them, forcing them to find other income to support the baby. All their applications are denied for typical jobs. Jane wants to pick up where she left off with her life of crime, but Scott doesn’t let her. By giving up what little wealth he has, Scott manages to start a business fixing vehicles…something he’s been doing in reverse for years.
Casting for Carl, a supporting character, and a myriad of characters to act as managers to reject the main characters during a job interview montage.
Carl is an older corporate businessman who, every day, comes to a spot in the city dressed in a suit and tie, pretending to go to work because he doesn’t want to tell his wife he’s unemployed. His initial disposition is stale and lukewarm, especially towards Scott. Their comparable regard for the value of family brings Scott and Carl together, ultimately making them friends and business partners.
The “hiring manager” characters have a range of professionalism: a white-collar law office, a museum director, a blue-collar manager, and the manager of a greasy restaurant. They will each have a line or two where they question the main characters about their experience and their criminal record.
Auditions will be by appointment on the afternoon of Sunday, February 21.
Thanks!
