Get Fit with a Student Personal Trainer!
Do you want to lose weight? Get stronger? Have more energy? Or feel better? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I encourage you to sign up for a personal trainer!
The Department of Kinesiology is offering personal training for faculty and staff. Below are the details. The trainers are senior exercise science students who are eager to help you reach your fitness goals! If you would like to sign up, email me at fmiller@huntington.edu. The deadline to sign up is this coming Friday, February 12. Each student will train one faculty or staff member. It is first-come, first-served for trainers. You will have the option of in-person, virtual, or mixed training. Maybe this spring is your time to get Fit!
Training Details:
8 weeks, 2 sessions per week, 50 minutes per session
Training starts February 22 and ends April 18
Cost is $70 (cash or checks payable to Huntington University). The money will go towards new equipment and maintenance of current equipment. Feel free to give your personal trainer something special after your eight weeks of training (gift card, take them out to dinner, and/or a thank you card).
Pre- and post-testing is optional but encouraged. Your choice of up to two tests administered by your trainer. Be tested week of February 15 (pre-test) and the week of April 19 (post-test). Discuss with your trainer which test(s) you would like. Possible Health-Related Fitness Tests/Assessments include
• Body Composition & Anthropometrics (weight, height, BMI, waist/hip circumferences, Bod Pod, Skinfolds, BIA)
• Cardiorespiratory Fitness (3 min step, 1-mile walk, 1-mile jog)
• Muscular Strength (1RM or Multiple RM bench press or leg press, grip strength)
• Muscular Endurance (Push-up or YMCA bench press test, curl-up test)
• Flexibility (sit and reach or goniometric measures of various joints)
