WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
In this past Wednesday’s 90-51 win over Bethel, Huntington University senior Sam Vaughn reached a significant milestone in her basketball career by becoming the 26th member of the Foresters’ 1,000-point club.
The 5-7 point guard joined this exclusive group with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter when she knocked down a pair of freebies. She finished the contest with 14 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Vaughn is HU’s second leading scorer this season by averaging 13.4 points per game. She does way more than just score for Culler’s crew. She currently leads the team in rebounds (7.5), assists (4.3) and steals (3.3).
To date, Vaughn has accumulated exactly 1,000 points in 99 games for a career average of 10.1 points per outing. The Anderson native has also collected 548 rebounds, 253 of which have been offensive, 384 assists and 230 steals during her time in Forester green and white.
