INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The HU indoor track and field program sent a handful of athletes to the IWU Indoor Invitational over the weekend to kick off 2021.

Freshman Sydni Ausberry brought home a first place finish for the Foresters. The rookie sprinter had a break-out 60 meters. In the prelims on Friday, she advanced to the finals as the eighth seed but her performance on Saturday far exceeded that seeding. Ausberry topped the field by clocking in at 7.99 which proves the second fastest time in Huntington history.

Jessica Chojnacki ran to a 5th place finish in the 1000 meters with her time of 3:12.78. The 4×400 meter relay team, consisting of Mia Ostopovich, Siera Weathers, Caitlyn Fisher and Jordan Adam, claimed 6th in 4:24.36.

Rounding out the HU’s top ten finishes included Carmen Trier in the mile where she posted a time of 5:39.50 for 9th place and Ingrid Gress (9th, 8.19) and Amylia Ostopovich (10th, 8.20) in the 60 meters.

On the men’s side, Cameron Worsham took 3rd in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.42. Noah Bise also earned a 3rd place finish in long jump with his leap of 6.81 meters. Heath Atkins also competed in long jump where he claimed 8th (6.29 meters). Kyler Bourne’s mark of 4.05 meters landed him 5th place in pole vault.

Nick Wolford finished 10th in the 400 meters in 54.41. Seth Parsell rounded out Huntington’s top ten finishes with a pair of 10th place performances in shot put (11.53 meters) and weight throw (12.92 meters).

The Foresters head back to IWU for the Midwest Classic on February 5-6.
