2020 Christmas Break and Commercial Travel for Employees
This month, we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus, our hope and promise. This promise is even more significant as we reflect on 2020. With so many uncertainties, we can be grateful that our God is unwavering and his promises never fail. The Senior Leadership Team is grateful that HU employees have been unwavering through 2020. You have given up much and have given much to continue the mission of HU.
To show appreciation for our comprehensive efforts, the University is proposing an extended Christmas break to begin Monday, December 21 and ending Sunday, January 3. Offices will reopen on Monday, January 4. Some employees may be asked to work during the break. Salaried employees who work during this break have the opportunity to substitute a day off in early January. Hourly employees working during the break will be paid at time and a half their regular pay rate. All holiday work and holiday substitutions must be approved by the employee’s supervisor. Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees for each day the employee would normally be scheduled to work.
Effective November 1, the University is lifting the commercial travel restrictions for employees (aka airlines, cruise ships, subways, etc.) You may travel commercially and return to work without a 14 day quarantine as previously required. Please continue to exercise caution when traveling, practice physical distancing, avoid large crowds, and wear masks.
Thank you for persisting in our mission of Christ, Scholarship, and Service. May you and your families be blessed during the Christmas season.
